Club Courses

The Club runs a number of courses at various times of the year and will be listed here.

 Beginner's Course

Our Beginner's Fly Fishing Course is an excellent vehicle to learning the fundamentals of fly fishing and includes an introduction to equipment, techniques and we provide you with a number of hours of casting tuition by Fly Fishing Federation Certified Casting Instructors.

The course culminates with a days guided fishing with other members of your course. Our next course is scheduled starting 4 April and culminates with the Club trip on the weekend of 18/19 May.  Further details can be found here.

The Beginner's Fly Tying Course is one of the best ways to learn the art of fly dressing.  The next course hasn't been scheduled but expect one to commence early in the new year.  Although you can bring your own vice and tools if you have them, the Club provides all the necessary tools and materials to take you from your first Pheasant tail nymph right through to your first dry fly.  The course will be taught by one of the best fly dressers in Australia, Brian Ahern.  The Club also holds regular fly tying nights which you are more than welcome to attend, irregardless of ability.

Rod Building Courses are also run by the Club with the last course being run in October and November 2012.  They are usually organised as demand dictates so let the Committee know if you are interested.

The Club also runs numerous other courses, including instruction on using the Club's float tubes and navigation.  Keep an eye out here for dates and times or better yet, come to a meeting and find out first hand when they are being run.  Places are usually limited and run out very quickly.
