What's on this Month

Well the February General Meeting is the first meeting for the year and we are very pleased to have the boys from Hard Core Element coming along to let us have a cast of their rods and have a talk on Thursday 2nd Feb.  Fly tying on the 9th will be focussed on those flys you'll need for the Pineapple Flat 4x4 trip on 18 - 19 Feb.

Speaking of which, if you are able, some of the lucky few are looking to stay an extra day.  So if you can, let the Trip Coordinator, Peter Cogden,  know so he can work out seats for people that need to get back and aren't driving.

The second fly tying night on 23rd Feb will be concentrating on any flies for the March trip to Kevington.

To round out the month we will be hosting the Northern Lights Casting Competition.  This competition was the first casting competition of its kind worldwide and is a great evening.  Make sure you come up, have a feed at the BBQ and join in the casting.  Remember, better casting makes for a better angler.

March is going to be just as busy for the Club.  The General Meeting on the 1st will no doubt abound with tales of fish caught and lost at Pineapple Flat and the after hours discussions.  Although no one has been organised just yet, I'm sure our illustrious President will find someone to entertain and educate us after the meeting formalities.

The big fishing trip for this month is over the Labor Day long weekend where we are all heading to Skipworth Reserve on the Upper Goulburn River.  This is a trip not to be missed, so make sure you organise yourself to get away with the Club.

There are five Thursdays this month so a Film night will be held on 29 Mar.  Come along, see some of the best fly fishing films available and have a chat and a party pie.

Competition casting really takes off this month with the President's Shield competition being held on the 25th.  Red Tag are also holding the Cock of the Walk competition at their casting pool.  Remember, better casting makes a better angler.

April is Easter this year, so there is no organised trip at this stage, but that could change very quickly if Feb and March's trips are as good as I think they are going to be.

The Northern Open casting competition will be held on the 1st Apr and the NSW Casting Championships are being held in Sydney on the 14/15th.  Casting for the month ends up with the Ron Callaghan Trophy on Sun 22 Apr.

Stay tuned for more.
